Attention on Omicron (B.1.1.529) virus
Friends,
As you may be aware, there has been a great deal of media attention focused on Omicron (B.1.1.529), which has been recognized by the WHO as a SARS-CoV-2 Variant of Concern (Classification of Omicron (B.1.1.529): SARS-CoV-2 Variant of Concern) (who.int). This has encouraged countries around the world, including India's central and state governments, to implement expanded COVID-19 surveillance measures in order to protect their populations.
It is critical that you do not panic and do not pay attention to any conjecture or rumours at this time. Wear your mask at all times (even if you've been vaccinated) and exercise physical distance. Because it is the holiday season, be extra cautious and take all precautions when going out.
We strongly advise you to continue to monitor the WHO COVID-19 Portal, including the India COVID-19 Resources section, as well as the #Coronavirus Update and Get Local – India regional channels, for the most up-to-date information, advisories, and travel restrictions.
Refresh your browser each time you use the portal to ensure it displays the most recent updates.
Take precautions and be safe.
